We also enjoy taking on new video and photography commissions from behind the scenes videos, dance film docs, commercial content creation, music videos and 2D animated short film works.

Meet Ella!

ELLA COOPER is an award winning director / producer, photographer, speaker, and writer who has been working in the arts, film and cultural sector for over 25 years. She runs Brown Rabbit Studios, a BIPOC photo video production company as well being the founder Black Women Film & Media Canada a not for profit supporting the development of Black women in film and media. Ella won the 2025 EXNW Global Connector Award and Tiffany’s Hometown Hero Award 2020 and was nominated for the 2019 TAC Mayor's Arts Award for cultural leadership and featured as one of 33 Black Canadians Making Change Now in Chatelaine magazine.
As a photographer, Ella is known for her dynamic portrait work and is currently supported by the Righteous Person's Foundation for a new photo and video commission that will tour to museums in 2027. She has taken on numerous contracts for the commercial and not for profit sector as well as being a recognized art photographer. Ella most recently showed her work in Vienna and was selected as the 2020 Editors Pick in Canadian Art Magazine. Ella’s photography & video work have been presented in galleries, public spaces and film festivals across Canada, the US and Europe.
Ella is also an episodic and multifaceted director, represented by Meridian Artists. She has written and directed over 20 episodes of children's television for TVO Kids (Sunny's Quest, Green Squad, The Fabulous Show with Fay & Fluffy and Screen Team) and has shadowed Zoe Hopkins on Season 2 of Run the Burbs (CBC) and Aleysa Young on a Capital One commercial shoot. Her documentary Black Men Loving received Best Canadian Film at Caribbean Tales, and her limited series Dance for Life on Bell Fibe earned an Honorable Mention at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
She holds a Masters of Education and known for her speaking, facilitation, teaching and transformative leadership programs created for diverse communities internationally and across Canada.
