Welcome to Brown Rabbit Studios Inc - we are a boutique BIPOC production company that brings together award-winning Black and BIPOC creators, and our allies, to create incredible video and animated works for tv, arts, lifestyle and children’s content.
We also enjoy taking on new video commissions from behind the scenes videos, dance film docs, commercial content, music videos and 2D animated short film works.

Meet Ella!
Executive Producer - Director - Multi-Media Artist
Owner of Brown Rabbit Studios
ELLA COOPER is an award winning director / producer, artist, speaker, and writer based in Toronto and Montreal who has been working in the arts, film and cultural sector for over 20 years.
Ella is founder of Black Women Film! Canada a not for profit supporting the development of Black women in film and media.
She started Brown Rabbit Studios in 2020, a new BIPOC production company focused on content creation for tv, arts and children programming with a new animation in development with CBC Kids & Karen Chapman. She is currently a writer/director for a new TVO Kids show ‘Sunny’s Quest,’ and was nominated for a 2023 & 2024 Canadian Screen award for this work. She also recently received support for a new interactive photo video from Steven Spielberg due to come out in museums in 2025.
Ella won the Tiffany’s Hometown Hero Award and was nominated for the 2019 TAC Mayor's Arts Award for cultural leadership and featured as one of 33 Black Canadians Making Change Now in Chatelaine magazine. Her photo series ‘Witness’ was just selected as 2020 Editors Pick in Canadian Art Magazine and her documentary, dance and video installation works have been presented in galleries, public spaces and film festivals in Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Berlin. She was an artist in residence at the Banff Centre, Picture Berlin and is supported by the Ontario, Toronto & Canada Arts Councils.
Ella is also holds a Masters of Education and known for her speaking, facilitation, teaching and transformative leadership programs created for diverse communities internationally and across Canada.
